There She Is

Hello Readers,

I am sorry it has been a while since my last post... Life got a little crazy. We all know how that goes. Regardless, I am back with the blogging!

Tonight we crown a new Miss America. And I have house that has been freshly cleaned, tons of pizza on its way, and friends ready to cheer on our Miss Arkansas, Loren McDaniel. She has been there for two weeks now doing preliminary competition and appearances in Atlantic City. Loren has been one of my loyal clients and dear friend for three years now! I remember working with her at her first Miss Arkansas preliminary pageant. We were both so new to the system, but so eager to see how this all would play out. After three years of hard work and dedication here she is now... AT MISS AMERICA!

I just wanted to share with you some of the essentials our very own Miss Arkansas wanted to take with her to Miss America.

1. Dry Texture Spray
The perfect product to add that extra grit for teasing. Every pageant girl's must have product... or any one who likes big hair.

2. Oribe Superfine Hairspray
What else would she use to keep every piece of hair in place so she can be picture ready at any point?

3. Run-Through Detangling Primer
This is one of Oribe's newest products! Obviously, it detangles the hair... but it also primes the hair and evens out the porosity. Evening out the porosity allows any other products used in the hair to be applied evenly. This is also one of the BEST detanglers I have ever used!

* For Example: Ever notice when you use a hair plumping mousse that it works REALLY good in some places and not so much in other places? It's because the porosity isn't even. Putting in a primer before hand just helps to even that out.

Be sure to tune into ABC tonight to watch Loren compete for the title of Miss America at 8pm central time!

Must Haves for Summer Travels!

Hello Readers,

Summer is here and that means vacations will be happening all the time! Here are my three must haves for the road!

1. Cote d'Azur
If you love the signature scent of Oribe products then this product is going to be your new best friend. This gives your hair that Oribe scent and neutralizes any odor for those days that you just don't feel like shampooing your hair. And it helps to eliminate static that is in the hair!

2. Dry Texture
This product is perfect for two things... Eliminating any oils in the hair and helping to add that va-va-voom volume every girl wants! If are wanting volume all you have to do is spritz and little at your scalp and tease away. If you are wanting to eliminate oils then you just spray at your oily area and you're good to go!

3. Impermeable
This little beauty is a anti-humidity spray. When I am working with this product I like to spray it in before I start styling. And then if I am working in a section by section manner I will spray each section after I am done styling. Now for my girls out there who still love to use hot rollers or velcro rollers (you are woman after my own heart) this is the perfect product for you!! Once you get all your rollers in place you can spray this over the top while they are setting and this will keep them from frizzing up on you!

Happy Travels, Readers!

Blonde Hair Don't Care

Hello Readers,

Have you heard? Oribe has finally launched the perfect shampoo that every blonde should own! It’s called Bright Blonde and don't you worry I am gonna tell you ALLLL about it!

The shampoo it is a sulfate free and gluten free shampoo. It contains the perfect amount of violet pigment to eliminate any brassy/warm tones and brighten your blonde as well! The shampoo contains coconut and corn derived cleansers that allows the hair to be squeaky clean, but isn't harsh... so it will keep your blonde bright and vibrant.  What more could you ask for? To top it off it is safe to use EVERY DAY…. yes, you read that right. EVERY DAY!

Now for the conditioner, it contains plum seed oil and shea butter which allows the hair to be conditioned, but without weighing it down or making it flat. And let’s be honest, us southern girls do not like flat hair. It also contains olive oil and jojoba oils to enhance the shine and give it that extra hydration that every blonde needs!

And now you are wondering how to get your hands on this amazing duo... All you have to do is stop by Freshair Salon and pick some up!

The Dynamic Duo strikes again!

Hello Readers,

Things have been crazy the last couple of weekends with pageants and A LOT of photo shoots! I have had an absolute blast working along side Kristina Thomas with Kristina Thomas Photography! She is phenomenal at what she does... and in my humble opinion I think we make a pretty good team! I just wanted to share some of our work from the past couple of weekends and the many friends/clients we have made along the way! Here are just a few of the lovely ladies I have had the pleasure to work with!

Meet Klaire: She was quite the character when we were hanging out and doing her hair and makeup! We had several dance parties, played simon says, and did our best "Hot Momma" poses.

Meet Caleigh: She was a blast from the past... we vaguely remember each other from the hallways of Shiloh. She was such a sweetheart and I can't wait to see what the pageant world holds for her!

Meet Caroline: I have been working with Caroline since she was 12 or so... and now she is taking the pageant world by storm. She and her mom, Kara, are two of the sweetest people I have ever met and I have loved working with them every step of the way!

Meet Hannah: She is such a precious little girl and Man, did I want to pinch those little chubby cheeks! She was very hesitant about wearing false eyelashes, but as soon as I told her that Elsa from "Frozen" wears them all the time she was ready for some lashes!

What a transformation!

Hello Readers,

As many of you know, I lost my grandfather to cancer this January. It was one of the hardest things that I have ever dealt with. It was so hard to watch him suffer from such an evil thing and not being able to do anything for him. People are affected by cancer EVERYDAY, even after they have already beaten it. People who are affected by it, whether they have/had cancer or have a loved one going through it, have a special place in my heart.

My beautiful client and friend, Kristina, is a Breast Cancer survivor! She has been cancer free for five years, but still struggles with her hair not being anywhere near the same as it was before cancer. Today we changed that! I was so excited to get to do something special for not only a cancer survivor, but one of my most amazing friends. You can watch the happy tears and transformation happen by clicking the link below!
Here is Kristina's before picture... Click the link to see the final result!

It's Brow time!

Hello Readers,

We have some exciting things happening at Freshair Salon, but you will have to watch our social media accounts to see what all is happening. One thing I can tell you about is one of our new lines that we now have in the salon! We are so excited to bring a little piece of L.A. to Fayetteville… We are now carrying Zoey Van Jones Brow Line! Other than Zoey Van Jones Brow Studio, we are the only other salon in the country that has the privilege of carrying this line.

This eyebrow line is hitting the ground hard and has already been featured in InStyle, Total Beauty, Cosmopolitan, and the New York Times. It has also been a featured product in Brichbox! And now you can see this product at Freshair!

Back in October, Ginny King from Zoey Van Jones Brow Studio, stopped by to give us a class on eyebrows and the art of shaping them! It was amazing to see the transformation, and to see how much something as small as an eyebrow shape can completely change the way a face looks. We had a blast at the class and all walked out with amazing eyebrows thanks to Ginny!

In the Zoey Van Jones line, you will find eyebrow pencils, eyebrow powders, and eyebrow gels. They all come in four colors including Blonde, Sandy, Strawburn, and Brunette. She also has a line of eyebrow stencils that help you to create that perfect shape at home. And we can’t forget about the tweezers and dual eyebrow brush.

If you aren't already sold on how awesome this product line looks or what you have read so far then listen to this… Freshair SOLD OUT of ALL of our Zoey Van Jones products in THREE DAYS! Don’t worry we have re-ordered and will have it in stock soon, but until then book an appointment with your stylist at Freshair and ask them to show you some of the testers we have at the salon… You won’t be disappointed!

A Year for the Books!

Hello Readers,

Well a new year is here and naturally we reflect on the last year of our life... the things we are grateful for and the things that have caused heartache and tears. The things we regret and the things we have accomplished. This is has been one of the greatest and one of the harder years of my life all wrapped in one. So here are a few of the happy and exciting moments of 2014!

1. The Blog was born.
In January, I created this blog that you are currently reading and have had thousands upon thousands of readers view it... And I sincerely say thank you for that. I have had so much fun writing these posts and then having people come into the salon and tell me how much they enjoy reading it makes it that much better.

2. Meeting an idol!
When I was in Cosmetology School we had an assignment to make these things called dream boards and on mine I put that I wanted to meet the one and only Rachael Ray. Even if it was only for a few seconds... I still got to introduce myself and take a picture with her.

3. Pampering Pageant Queens.
In March, I took over the job of being the official hairstylist of the Miss Arkansas USA Pageant! This was an incredible blessing in my life, because not only did it help with my career, but it also created a few amazing friendships with not only Helen and Lauren (the 2014 Queens), but also Lauren's mom Kristina. They are three amazing woman and our friendships will last a lifetime. And now you can add two more amazing young woman to that list... my 2015 Queens Leah and Arynn.

4. Becoming apart of the Freshair Family.
In April, I took a job at Freshair which is obviously where I still am working. I am so happy that I took this job, because if I wouldn't have I would have never met the amazing women who work there and would have never met some of the people I consider my best friends.

6. My first behind the scenes experience...
In July, I got to work behind the scenes at my first music video with my favorite local band... Backroad Anthem! It was so much fun to get to hang out with the band and all the Miss USA contestants who were featured in the video! And then later on, I took on the job of becoming the official hairstylist for all the guys of the band suppling them with amazing products and some killer haircuts...  and let me tell you these guys go through A LOT of hairspray. I can't wait to see what is in store for this talented group!

7. My never ending project!
In August, I launched my website where I talk about all things hair and makeup related. It really is a never ending project. I am constantly trying to make changes for you, my readers, to learn new things and look gorgeous while doing it!

8. T.V. Debut
In September, the salon was featured on TLC's 19 Kids and counting. That was such a fun day! We shut down the salon for 5 of the oldest girls to come in and get ideas on how to wear their hair and makeup for Jana Duggar's wedding. There were cameras everywhere and boom mics would magically appear over your head!

I am grateful for the friends that I have and the laughs that we have shared. I am grateful for the job that I have and for the clients that sit in my chair along with the conversations we share. I am grateful for my family and the encouragement and support they constantly provide.  And I am thankful YOU, my readers... because of you this blog is still going a year later.
